About Mr. McConnell

My name is Phillip McConnell. As of September of 2023 I will have been happily married to my wife Britney for 19 years. I have two daughters that both attended Harris Middle School. My oldest daughter is going to be a freshman this year at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) and my youngest daughter will be a junior at Shelbyville Central High School (SCHS). I have lived in Shelbyville almost my entire life and graduated from SCHS in 1996. I obtained my Masters in the Art of Teaching from Trevecca Nazarene University. We have 4 dogs, 2 goats and 2 guinea pigs.

 

I attend church at Southside Church of Christ along with my family and help there in many different area. This will be my 7th full year teaching at Harris and 8th overall. I have been in education for the last 11 years and I have over 16 years of experience in the world of education in many different roles. I love God and my family and spend as much time with them as I can.

 

Along with teaching 6th grade world history I also serve as the webmaster for the Harris Middle School webpage, the announcer for the HMS football games, co-sponsor of the Harris Harmony Choir, 6th grade social studies lead and probably five or six other things.

 

I want your students to learn and have fun in my class. I want them to know they are cared for and I will be there for them. I want you to know I will do my best to keep your kids safe and teach them what they need to know. I love to use videos to help students better understand what we are talking about as it gives them a visual and audio connection that simply talking or reading about history won't give them. I use clips from movies and television shows to do this. I preview them and edit them to make sure they are safe to show. I love pro wrestling from all over the world, Braves baseball, Titans and Crimson Tide football and Predators hockey. I am a huge fan of watching movies, television shows, and anime. I like playing video games when time allows. I love music and can often be heard humming some song that gets stuck in my head.

Mi nombre es Phillip McConnell. A partir de septiembre de 2023, habré estado felizmente casado con mi esposa Britney durante 19 años. Tengo dos hijas que asistieron a la Escuela Secundaria Harris. Mi hija mayor va a ser estudiante de primer año este año en la Universidad Estatal de Middle Tennessee (MTSU) y mi hija menor será estudiante de tercer año en la Escuela Secundaria Central de Shelbyville (SCHS). He vivido en Shelbyville casi toda mi vida y me gradué de SCHS en 1996. Obtuve mi Maestría en el Arte de Enseñar de la Universidad Nazarena de Trevecca. Tenemos 4 perros, 2 cabras y 2 cobayas.

Quiero que sepan que haré todo lo posible para mantener a sus hijos seguros y enseñarles lo que necesitan saber. Soy un gran fanático de ver películas, programas de televisión y anime. Me gusta jugar videojuegos cuando el tiempo lo permite.
