🌟 Student Voices. Student Perspectives. Student Leadership. 🌟
The Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council recently gathered at the Bedford County Schools Central Office to kick off another year of #student #leadership, conversation and collaboration! 💬✨
With both returning and new members joining the council, #students had the opportunity to get to know one another through an icebreaker question: “If you could instantly become really good at one thing, anything at all, school-related or not, what would you choose and why?” Their answers sparked some fun conversations and gave students a chance to learn more about the peers they’ll be working alongside throughout the year.
Students also met with Superintendent Tim Harwell, Assistant Superintendent of Instruction Sandy Sorrells, Assistant Superintendent of Operations Neil Watson and Director of Communications Carol Garrette. They then toured the Central Office to learn more about the different departments and how each one supports BCS schools and students.
Throughout the school year, these student leaders will have opportunities to share their perspectives, provide input on district matters and help ensure that student voices are part of the conversation. 🗣️⭐
We’re looking forward to hearing what this group has to say and seeing the impact their voices will have throughout the year!

Due to anticipated inclement weather associated with **Hurricane Isaias**, the #HarrisMiddleSchool Fall Family Festival scheduled for this weekend has been **CANCELLED** at this time.
We plan to **reschedule the Festival for a later date**. The new date has not yet been determined, but we will share that information with the #HMS Family as soon as it is finalized.

**PICTURE DAY IS JUST ONE WEEK AWAY!**
Hey, #HarrisMiddleSchool Family! Picture Day is officially **ONE WEEK AWAY!**
📅 **#HMS Picture Day:** Wednesday, October 14, 2026
📅 **Picture Retakes:** Wednesday, November 18, 2026
Retakes will be available for students who **miss Picture Day** or who need to have their picture **retaken**.
🚨 **IMPORTANT REMINDER:**
Please **DO NOT WEAR GREEN** on Picture Day!
A **green screen** will be used for the pictures, so wearing green could cause your clothing to disappear into the background. And unless you're going for the *floating head* look, we probably don't want that.

📅 **Picture Retakes:** Wednesday, November 18, 2026
Retakes will be available for students who **miss Picture Day** or who need to have their picture **retaken**.
🚨 **IMPORTANT REMINDER:**
Please **DO NOT WEAR GREEN** on Picture Day!
A **green screen** will be used for the pictures, so wearing green could cause your clothing to disappear into the background. And unless you're going for the *floating head* look, we probably don't want that.

Instead, we encourage students and parents to reach out to **family members, friends, co-workers, neighbors, and others they know** and ask them to support our #HMS Cookie Dough Fundraiser.
### 📝 HOW TO ORDER
Students will need to:
1️⃣ **Complete the order form** and print clearly.
2️⃣ Make sure the **student's name and grade** are clearly written on the order form.
3️⃣ **Collect money when the order is taken.**
4️⃣ Return the completed order form and money to your **teacher on the designated turn-in day.**
