# 🦅 HMS SPORTS MONDAY UPDATE | November 2

Hello, #HarrisMiddleSchool Family and Friends!

We have officially entered the month of November! The leaves are starting to fall outside, and basketballs are finding their way into the nets as our #HMS Basketball teams are back in action. It's going to be a busy week for HMS Sports, so let's take a look back at what happened Friday and a look ahead at what's coming up this week!

### 🏀 LAST FRIDAY | October 30

The HMS Junior Varsity Eaglettes and Eagles took to the court Friday, and BOTH came away with victories! The Eaglettes defeated Columbia Academy 33-1, while the Eagles edged out a 20-18 victory.

The winning continued with our Varsity teams! The Varsity Eaglettes defeated Columbia Academy 46-24, while the Varsity Eagles dominated with a 52-10 victory.

**Great job, ladies and gentlemen! Way to represent the blue and gold!**

Also, this weekend, the roster for the 2026–2027 HMS Tennis Team was officially released!

Congratulations to all the students who earned a spot on this year's team! We are excited to see you represent the blue and gold and look forward to seeing you out on the court!

Now, on to the action and news for this week! 🦅🏀

### 🏀 MONDAY, NOVEMBER 2

The Eagles and Eaglettes are back in action TONIGHT as they travel across the street to The Nest at Shelbyville Central High School to take on their cross-town rivals, Liberty Middle!

There will be NO girls JV game, but the JV boys will tip off at 5:00 PM. The Varsity Eaglettes will take the court at 6:00 PM, followed by the Varsity Eagles.

**⚽ HMS BOYS SOCCER TRYOUTS**

HMS Boys Soccer will hold tryouts Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday of this week from 3:30–5:30 PM each day.

Students should check in at the HMS Cafeteria each day and must bring:
- A sports physical dated April 15, 2026, or later
- Soccer cleats
- Water
- A soccer ball

**Students MUST attend all three days of tryouts to be eligible.**

### 📅 TUESDAY–THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 3–5

There will be NO basketball games Tuesday through Thursday this week.

Also, there will be NO SCHOOL for students on Tuesday, November 4, due to Election Day.

### 🏀 FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 6

The HMS Eagles and Eaglettes will play a rare DAY GAME as they welcome another cross-town rival, Cascade Middle, to the HMS Gym!

There will be NO JV games on Friday.

The Varsity Eaglettes will tip off at 12:00 PM, followed by the Varsity Eagles.

**A special note for our students:** 7th and 8th grade students are welcome to attend! Student admission will be just $2.

Let's pack the gym and show our Eagles and Eaglettes some support!

**HMS WRESTLING YARD SALE FUNDRAISER**

Our HMS Wrestling team will be holding a yard sale fundraiser in the Shelbyville Central High School Cafeteria!

🏆 **HMS SPORTS FRIDAY UPDATE | October 30** 🦅

Hello again, #HarrisMiddleSchool Family and Friends!

Ask any teacher who has worked during Halloween Week, and they will tell you there is just something different about teaching during this week. Especially when it includes a full moon! 🌕

HMS Winter Sports has had a **busy** week so far, and there is still plenty of action coming to the HMS Gym tonight! Let's turn on **EagleVision** and see what has already gone down in the world of HMS Sports this week and what still lies ahead.

There was no action on Monday or Wednesday of this week.

🤼 **HMS Wrestling** hit the mats on both Tuesday and Thursday, finishing with a combined team tally of 3–4 against Moore County and Coffee County. Despite the results, Coach McBee reported that there was "major improvement from each of the returning wrestlers." That's what we love to hear! The Eagles will be back in action November 14 as they compete in the Cascade Clash Tournament.

🏀 **HMS Basketball** — both the Eagles and Eaglettes — took to the hardwood Thursday night as they traveled to Christiana Middle. Neither JV team competed, but both varsity squads took the floor.

The HMS Eaglettes came away with an impressive **52–14 victory**, getting their season off to a 1–0 start! The Eagles followed the ladies onto the court but came up short in a close contest, falling by a score of **43–32**.

🏀 **TONIGHT: BASKETBALL AT THE NEST!**

The HMS Eagles and Eaglettes are back on their home court tonight, Friday, October 30, in the HMS Gym!

Here is tonight's schedule:

- 4:00 PM – Girls JV
- 5:00 PM – Boys JV
